VIVA – Netflix will begin to kick others out of its users' accounts unless they pay someone else's fee to share the account. Netflix revealed the details of how its crackdown on password sharing will affect viewers in the United States and how much it will cost to keep more people on an account.

If you have a Netflix Standard plan that costs US$15.49 per month or IDR 230 thousand then you have the option to add one additional member who can use the service outside of the user's home for an additional US$7.99 (IDR 119 thousand) per month.

Anyone who pays for the Netflix Premium plan with 4K streaming has the option to add up to two additional members, but each will still cost an additional US$7.99 (IDR 119 thousand).

The United States is not the only country where the new rules are rolling out, another Netflix arena is the United Kingdom which will charge subscribers £4.99 (IDR 92 Thousand) per month for an additional member slot.

Netflix subscribers to its two cheapest plans, Basic or Standard with ads, which cost $9.99 or IDR 149 thousand and $6.99 or IDR 104 thousand per month respectively, do not have the option to add additional members to their account.

Netflix subscribers in the US who share the service 'outside their home' will get an email about the company's password-sharing policy starting Tuesday, according to the blog post.

Netflix's paid password-sharing experiment has been going on for some time and expanded its tests to Canada, New Zealand, Portugal, and Spain back in February.

The password-sharing crackdown was supposed to take place in the US earlier this year, but the company pushed the rollout back to April.

The support page describes an 'additional member' as someone who will have their password and profile, paid for by the person who 'invited' them to join.
