Marc Marquez Penalty Decision Continues to MotoGP Court of Appeal

VIVA – The FIM Appeal Stewards referred the case of Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) to the MotoGP Court of Appeal after the race team appealed the crash incident and the penalty given to him.
"Given the injury and non-participation of Marc Marquez, rider number #93, at the Gran Premio Michelin de la Republica Argentina, and to comply with the intentions underlying the decision taken by the FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel, a double long lap will be undertaken by the rider at the next MotoGP race in which he will be able to participate," said the FIM Appeal Stewards statement on Friday.
"This triggered an appeal from Marquez and the Repsol Honda Team. The FIM Appeal Steward has now referred it to the MotoGP Court of Appeal," the statement added.

Previously, the Repsol Honda team on Wednesday objected to changes in sanctions against Marquez related to the crash at the Portuguese MotoGP involving Miguel Oliveira (CryptoDATA RNF) on Sunday, March 26, 2023.
The MotoGP organizers then changed the penalty for Marquez and stated that the rider would have to serve a penalty in the next race he participated in.
"For that reason, the Repsol Honda team intends to use all the means offered by the applicable regulations to defend its legitimate rights and interests, which it considers to be infringed as a result of the latest resolution adopted, and has specifically appealed to the FIM Appeal Stewards," said the team.
On the other hand, several parties including the RNF team want Marquez to be punished more severely for his dangerous actions on the track.
"CryptoDATA RNF, following Marc Marquez's recent reckless and irresponsible incident against Miguel Oliveira, is pushing for a harsher and more severe punishment from the FIM Stewards," said the Aprilia satellite team.
