Sick Hajj Pilgrims Evacuation from Madinah to Makkah Has Started

VIVA – The gradual evacuation of sick Hajj pilgrims who are still in Madinah began last Friday. The evacuation is being carried out for Hajj pilgrims whose groups have been in Makkah since June 1, 2023.
Pilgrims who are unable to join their groups in Makkah due to illness or being treated in Saudi Arabian hospitals are being evacuated.
As of Friday, June 9, there were a total of 49 Hajj pilgrims and patients still being treated at the Indonesian Hajj Health Clinic (KKHI) in Madinah, as well as 39 Hajj pilgrims being treated at Saudi Arabian hospitals in Madinah. Currently, 14 individuals have been scheduled for gradual evacuation.
"Until noon today, 49 Hajj pilgrims are still being treated at KKHI, and 14 individuals are planned for evacuation to Makkah. The first evacuation has already taken place, involving two sick Hajj pilgrims and one family member of a patient," explained the Head of KKHI Madinah, dr. Tri Atmaja Sugiyarno.
Sugiyarno further explained that the planned evacuees are Hajj pilgrims who are stable and can be transferred. Additionally, the pilgrims must have complete documents such as passports and travel permits.
The evacuation process for these sick Hajj pilgrims is being conducted using ambulances. During the journey, each pilgrim will be accompanied by one doctor and one nurse to ensure their condition remains stable during the evacuation.

The first phase of the evacuation transported pilgrims suffering from heart disease from the PLM2 group and those suffering from stroke from the KNO3 group.
Furthermore, dr Riko Hyang Wicaksono, SpKFR, and Ns. Wahidin Rusdin Sako, who were responsible for the first phase of the evacuation, reported the two sick Hajj pilgrims remained stable throughout the evacuation and the journey to Makkah went smoothly. It was also mentioned that the second phase of the evacuation, carrying 3 sick Hajj pilgrims, is scheduled for departure on Saturday.
