Indonesia's Nickel Industry to Gain Independence

Jakarta, November 27, 2023 – PT Wiraraja Tangguh and Tynergy Technology Group have officially partnered to support the independence of the silica sand and nickel industries in Indonesia. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two companies was signed in Washington, D.C., United States, on November 13, 2023.

The signing ceremony was held in Washington, D.C., and was one of a series of events during President Joko Widodo's working visit to President Joseph R. Biden at the White House. Several Indonesian officials, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, and Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Rosan Roeslani, were present at the inauguration of the partnership.

PT Wiraraja Tangguh and Tynergy will work on the Batam Wiraraja and Galang Bumi projects related to the downstream processing of silica sand and nickel to support the independence of the photovoltaic (PV) and semiconductor industries.

The Indonesian government strongly supports and encourages the downstream processing of silica and nickel commodities, which have great potential to be developed as raw materials for the PV and semiconductor industries, thus generating significant foreign exchange and job creation.

"Investment from the United States would be good for supporting downstream processing in Indonesia. The role of the government to realize this is very important," said Tynergy Director, Kadafi Yahya.

"With the entry of investment, state revenue will increase from the energy industry sector. In addition, a lot of jobs will be created through this partnership," he added.

PT Wiraraja Tangguh CEO Iwan Setiawan added that the partnership would have a positive impact on the Indonesian economy.
