Transportation Ministry Apologizes for Bandung Train Collision

Bandung – The Indonesian Transportation Ministry expressed its apologies for the train collision between the Turangga train connecting Surabaya Gubeng-Bandung and the Bandung Commuter line, which caused service disruption.Â
"The Transportation Ministry expressed its deep concern and condolences regarding the train collision in Bandung on the Cicalengka-Haurpugur route on Friday morning," said the spokesperson of the Ministry, Adita Irawati in Jakarta on Friday.Â
Irawati stated that the Transportation Ministry through the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) had deployed a team with all stakeholders to immediately evacuate victims and railway infrastructure.Â

On behalf of the government, the Ministry is asking for prayers and support from the entire community so that the evacuation can be completed immediately.Â
Currently, the railway line between Haurpugur-Cicalengka is temporarily impassable due to the collapse of the Turangga train with Surabaya Gubeng-Bandung relation and KRL Commuterline Bandung Raya at Km 181+700 between Haurpugur Station and Cicalengka Station on Friday at 6:30 a.m.Â
Kereta Api Indonesia is currently trying to evacuate the passengers on the two trains that crashed.
Raden Agus Dwinanto Budiadji, KAI EVP Corporate Secretary said KAI's next effort is to evacuate the two trains and repair the damaged rail lines.
For train trips that will pass in the Haurpugur-Cicalengka area, KAI will make efforts to engineer operating patterns in the form of detours and diversions using other transportation.
KAI will also investigate with KNKT to find out the cause of the accident.
"We will convey further information regarding this incident at the next opportunity," she stated.Â
