Anthony Ginting Qualifies to Quarterfinals in India Open 2024

India – Indonesian men's singles player, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, successfully advanced to the quarterfinals of the India Open 2024 after defeating Japan's representative, Kenta Nishimoto, at K.D. Jadhav Indoor Hall, Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, New Delhi on Thursday.

Ginting managed to defeat Nishimoto in straight sets with scores of 21-8 and 21-17.

"I tried to play aggressively but with more patience, avoiding being hasty. Also, I tried my best not to make mistakes, and thankfully, it worked well today," Ginting said in a statement from PBSI.

Ginting mentioned that the strategy he executed went well, putting pressure on his opponent.

"All the strategies flowed smoothly, making it difficult for the opponent to escape the pressure, especially in the first game," he expressed. 

"In the second game, he certainly wanted to change the direction of the game, but I could read it. There was indeed a tough competition, and the points were quite close," he added.

Ginting also expressed his joy at the support from the fans during his performance.

"I'm quite happy with the enthusiasm of the audience supporting me today. Hopefully, with today's match, I could entertain them," Ginting stated. 

Anthony Sinisuka Ginting is now the last hope for Indonesia's men's singles in the India Open 2024.

Earlier, another Indonesian men's singles player, Jonatan Christie, was stopped in the round of 16 after losing to the representative from Malaysia, Lee Zii Jia.
