Google Pay App is Shutting Down in the United States
Jakarta – Google Pay app is being discontinued in the United States, the company said in a blog post. The standalone version of the application will no longer be available after June 4, 2024, and users should switch to Google Wallet instead.
Features that will be gone once the app is removed are the P2P payments, finding offers and deals, and managing the balance in the platform. The app will remain available in other markets like India and Singapore.
While this change may seem sudden, it makes sense for Google to consolidate and simplify its payment apps to make the service less confusing for its users, as Google supports Google Wallet as a single app that can be used for payment features.

Users can continue to access the app's most popular features directly from Google Wallet, which Google says is used five times more than the Google Pay app in the United States.
After June 4, users will no longer be able to send, request, or receive money through the US version of the Google Pay app.
Users have until that date to view and transfer their Google Pay balance to a bank account through the app.
If users still have a balance in the account after that date, then users can view and transfer their funds to the bank from the Google Pay website.
Google explained that users who use the Google Pay application to find offers and transactions can still do so by using the new transaction destination on Google Search.
Google Wallet is the company's main place for mobile payments in the US, and is likely to stay that way.
The app lets users use their phones to pay in stores, board planes, take transit, store loyalty cards, store driver's licenses, and start cars via digital keys.
Google says that millions of people in more than 180 countries use Google Pay to make payments when shopping on desktops, smartphones, and in-store.
