BYD Electric Car Assembled by Thousands of Robots

Changzhou – The technology giant Build Your Dreams (BYD) has 9 electric car production plants scattered across several regions in China.
One of BYD's electric car production plants is located in Changzhou City, and it is the production site for the BYD Atto 3 and BYD Seal electric cars, which will be exported to several countries including Indonesia.
The BYD plant in Changzhou covers an area of 11,600 square meters and is divided into four areas: stamping, welding, painting, and assembling, all of which utilize self-designed machines.
Eagle Zhou, the President Director of BYD Motor Indonesia, stated that with the presence of these machines, the production plant has achieved over 50 percent higher efficiency compared to other manufacturers in China.

"Production efficiency has been achieved in part by implementing automation systems up to 95 percent of the total process in certain needs," he said at the BYD plant in Changzhou, China.
Furthermore, for the stamping area, automation systems are used to produce body panels or car body structures and currently have the capability to produce 1,200 cars per day in two shifts.
As for the welding area, there is laser welding technology, an advanced technology where the density of the frame welding is almost imperceptible.
In the processing, there are already 477 robot workers out of more than 1,000 robot units in the factory.
In the welding area, there is also robotic welding technology that produces a very smooth level of frame welding density, almost imperceptible.
This is one of the factors that have led to the Atto 3 receiving a 5-star NCAP (New Star Assessment Program) rating.
Meanwhile, in the assembly area, one of the automation systems is used to synchronize the assembly time of the car frame, platform, and battery simultaneously.
Each area also has its own research and development team to conduct various necessary checks.
Such as checking and researching errors or damages in the stamping area, random sampling checks to identify potential precision errors in the welding area, and random sampling checks for potential production errors in the assembly area.
As information, the Changzhou factory in China has a maximum production capacity of 30,000 units per year.
