Spain – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, met with representatives from several countries participating in the Executive Council UN Tourism Meeting in Barcelona, Spain.

The meeting discussed investment potential in efforts to develop Indonesia's tourism and creative economy sectors. As known, there were representatives from four countries participating in the Executive Council UN Tourism Meeting; Spain, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Saudi Arabia.

Minister Uno stated that the bilateral meetings aimed to discuss various potential collaborations in the development of the tourism and creative economy sectors, while also inviting investors from these countries to invest in Indonesia.

"This investment plays a crucial role in the efforts to develop a high-quality and sustainable tourism and creative economy sector in Indonesia," Minister Uno said in a statement on Wednesday (June 12).

The Minister mentioned that the tourism and creative economy sector is very promising, as it has proven to contribute significantly to Indonesia's gross domestic product (GDP), accounting for about 8 percent.

Additionally, Minister Uno highlighted that Indonesia's cultural diversity and natural beauty are strong assets for leveraging the tourism and creative economy sector as a locomotive for driving the community's economy.

"The tourism and creative economy sector in Indonesia has also proven capable of creating extensive job opportunities for the community," Minister Uno remarked.

During the meeting, Minister Uno encouraged representatives from friendly countries to invest in Indonesia, particularly in the development of the five super-priority tourism destinations, enhancing human resources, and other potential areas of collaboration.
