Surge in Eid Travelers, DAMRI Adds More Buses from Private Operators

Jakarta, VIVA – The state-owned road transportation company, DAMRI, has acknowledged a significant surge in Eid 2025 travelers.
To accommodate the surge, DAMRI has expanded its fleet by leasing buses from private operators.
Senior Vice President (SVP) of Commercial and Business Development at DAMRI, Agus Hari Survijanto, stated that as of now, 62,428 DAMRI tickets have been sold nationwide, with an average of 4,000 passengers departing daily.

"The peak of the Eid homecoming rush for DAMRI is happening today. However, due to demand far exceeding the capacity of our existing buses, we have partnered with private operators to add more fleet," Survijanto said on Thursday (March 27).
He mentioned that DAMRI currently operates more than 500 buses per day, but this number is still insufficient to accommodate the massive influx of Eid travelers.
To address the shortfall, DAMRI has leased 20 additional buses from private operators to meet the increased demand. "The leased buses must meet DAMRI's standards, including vehicle feasibility and passenger safety," Agus emphasized.
With the additional fleet, Survijanto hopes that DAMRI's Eid transportation services will run smoothly and safely.
"And most importantly, fulfill the needs of the people who wish to return to their hometowns," he concluded.
