Over 2.1 Million Vehicles Leave Jakarta for Eid Homecoming

Jakarta, VIVA – The Head of the Indonesian National Police's Traffic Corps, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, reported that more than 2.1 million vehicles had already left Jakarta during the 2025 Eid homecoming season.
These vehicles were recorded traveling towards the Trans-Java and Sumatra routes.
"As of now, we have recorded a total of 2,167,702 vehicles leaving Jakarta, heading towards both Trans-Java and Sumatra. It means that only about 0.5 percent of vehicles remain under normal conditions," Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho said on Wednesday (Apr 2).
He also recorded a decline in accident rates compared to the previous year, emphasizing that the Eid homecoming had been smooth overall.

"We were pleased to report that the homecoming flow has proceeded well. Thankfully, the number of accidents has also decreased, along with a reduction in fatal casualties," Suryonugroho remarked.
Regarding the Eid homecoming return traffic, he explained that the police are currently strategizing to ensure a smooth transition back to Jakarta, following the directive of National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
"The police, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, is preparing traffic management strategies for the return flow," he stated.
Suryonugroho also issued a message to travelers returning home, urging them to prepare adequately for their journey.
"We advise all travelers to carefully plan their return trip, maintain good health, and ensure their vehicles are in optimal condition." he concluded.
