Indonesia Plans to Build Hajj and Hadith Museums with Saudi Support

Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar traveled to Madinah, Saudi Arabia, to attend a regular meeting of the Hadith Foundation, affiliated with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Minister Nasaruddin’s presence at this prestigious forum further strengthens Indonesia's position in the international Islamic academic community.
Before departing from the VIP lounge at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten, early on Sunday (April 27), Minister Nasaruddin revealed that Indonesia is one of the seven advisory members of the foundation.

This regular meeting, held three times a year in Madinah, serves as an important platform for Indonesia to present various strategic agendas.
“I'm going to Madinah to fulfill the invitation of the Hadith Foundation. We are one of the seven advisory members, and we meet three times a year in Madinah,” Nasaruddin said.
In this meeting, the Minister brought forward crucial aspirations for the advancement of Islam in Indonesia, including an ambitious plan to establish a Hajj Museum and a Hadith Museum in the country.
Support from Saudi Arabia is expected to help realize this historic project.
“There are many positive points that we are bringing. We want to build a Hajj museum and a Hadith museum in Indonesia, while also strengthening intellectual ties with Saudi Arabia,” he explained.
The trust granted by the Saudi Arabian institution, involving Indonesia in this forum, according to the Minister, is an acknowledgment of Indonesia's strategic role in the Muslim world.
This opens up golden opportunities to deepen cooperation in the fields of science and culture between the two countries.
“The most important thing is that we have earned their trust, as we are now part of the King’s institution. This is very strategic for the future of Indonesia-Saudi relations,” he emphasized.
The Minister's visit to Madinah is expected not only to strengthen bilateral relations but also to open broader opportunities for cooperation in education, culture, and Islamic studies, while affirming Indonesia's active role in global Islamic affairs.
