“President Macron and President Prabowo share a very good relationship. I believe this visit will be strategic and long-term in nature,” he added.

Bakrie also highlighted the potential signing of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) in the near future, aiming to expand market access for Indonesian businesses, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

“These kinds of agreements are aimed at opening up more markets, which will hopefully support businesses in Indonesia, especially MSMEs,” he stated.

Regarding the current trade relations between Indonesia and France, Bakrie noted that Indonesia’s major exports include electronic goods. However, he emphasized the need to increase export value through critical minerals.

“We want to focus on critical minerals such as nickel, copper, zinc, and bauxite, so we’re not just exporting low-value goods but ones with high added value,” he said.

He concluded, “We hope that trade and investment relations between Indonesia, France, and the broader European region will continue to grow, with Indonesia emerging as a strategic partner and regional leader in ASEAN."
