Jakarta, VIVA – President Prabowo Subianto stated that Indonesia is currently heading toward food self-sufficiency.

This is reflected in the government's rice reserves (CBP) stored in Bulog warehouses, which have reached the highest level in the nation’s history.

As of May 13, 2025, the CBP stock reached 3,701,006 tons—marking the highest in the 57 years since the establishment of the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) in 1969.

“We're now on the path to food self-sufficiency beyond our expectations. Our rice and corn production has hit historic highs. The rice reserves in the warehouses of the Indonesian government today are the highest in the history of Indonesia," the head of state said on Saturday (May 17).

The president explained that rice production in various regions has generally increased. He cited South Sumatra as an example, where rice production has risen by 25 percent.

“On average, regional production has increased by 10 percent, with South Sumatra seeing a 25 percent rise. We’ve turned swamps into rice fields, and barren lands are being transformed into fertile ones,” he explained.

President Prabowo believes that Indonesia's future is looking bright, despite some parties trying to portray it otherwise.

“Our future is bright—even though there are those who want to portray it as bleak. We are facing many challenges and difficulties, but our strength is immense,” he remarked.

In addition, the president stated that the government is committed to reducing poverty in Indonesia. He also pledged to eliminate hunger across the nation.

“We will reduce poverty. We will eliminate hunger from the Republic of Indonesia,” he concluded.
