Indonesia-Belarus Presidential Meeting Strengthens Bilateral Ties

Minsk, VIVA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a warm meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. The encounter took place during a brief stopover in Belarus on Prabowo’s journey back home.
The meeting was hosted at President Lukashenko’s residence, Ozyorny, located outside Minsk. It marked a significant moment of diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
The three-hour meeting unfolded in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It reflected the mutual respect and closeness between the two leaders.
President Prabowo became the second head of state, after Russia’s Vladimir Putin, to visit Lukashenko’s restored residence. Lukashenko noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping had visited the residence before its restoration.
“Mr. President, after the restoration of this house, only President Putin visited before you,” Lukashenko said. He warmly welcomed Prabowo, emphasizing the significance of the visit.
The leaders discussed strategic issues, including opportunities for cooperation in various sectors. Lukashenko expressed readiness to address all potential areas of collaboration.
President Prabowo thanked Lukashenko for the warm hospitality. He extended an invitation for Lukashenko to visit Indonesia soon.
“Thank you, Your Excellency, for receiving me at your home,” Prabowo said. He expressed hope that Lukashenko would visit Indonesia in the near future.
Lukashenko responded positively, expressing eagerness to revisit Indonesia, having last visited in 2013. “I look forward to returning to Indonesia,” he said with a warm smile.
Upon returning home, Prabowo highlighted the importance of the discussions, particularly on trade and fertilizer needs. He noted Belarus’s interest in Indonesian commodities and Indonesia’s need for potash and other resources.
