The Most Common Password of 2022 by Indonesian People

VIVA – NordPass recently released the top 30 passwords commonly used by Indonesian people which are likely to be hacked in just seconds.

"People are more likely to use easy-to-remember passwords rather than secure ones because sometimes they need to access them on different devices," software company NordPass stated in a blog on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.

But the advice to change passwords regularly is also unsafe and outdated as people will create passwords based on patterns that are easy to remember and most likely easy to guess.



At the very top are '123456' which can be cracked in less than a second, 'Nandar001', '12345678', '123456789', and 'password' where all three can also be cracked in less than a second.

The sixth most popular passwords are 'coba12345', 'month 21', 'bismillah', '123', 'qwerty', '1234567890', 'elnusa', 'rahasia', '1234567', '111111', 'tamu', 'Indonesia', 'qwerty123' and 'jam tangan'.

Furthermore, NordPass said that there is currently a password-less login method introduced as an industry standard called Passkey.

When choosing to use Passkey, users only need to use device biometric authentication such as FaceID or fingerprint or use a physical key such as YubiKey.

"Passkey is currently available on Apple devices running the latest operating system. Google and Microsoft have also announced their support. Apps and websites also need to support Passkey," NordPass explained.
