Wings Air Airline Shot On Nop Goliath Dekai Yahukimo Airport in Papua

Papua – Wings Air at Nop Goliat Dekai Airport, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains, was shot at by unknown people. 

The shooting of the Wings Air plane was known through a report from the Brimob Agricultural Post through Handytalkie regarding the sound of gunfire. 

"At 1.20 p.m. local time, the Mobile Brigade Damai Cartenz Agriculture Post heard one shot which was estimated at a distance of 300-400 meters towards 30 ° North when the Wings Air IW 1646 ATR 700 PK WGT aircraft landed at Nop Goliat Dekai Airport," said Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakiri on Saturday. 

He explained, the Wings Air IW 1646 ATR 700 PK WGT aircraft was hit by a shot on the left side penetrating inside, there were no casualties.  

"Currently the Cartenz Gakkum Joint Team, Cartenz Peace Action Team, Brimob Yon D Papua Police and Yahukimo Police Opsnal Team under the leadership of Kanit III Cartenz Gakkum Task Force AKP Budi Basrah are handling the incident," 

As information, Indonesian police and military personnel were tracking down members of an armed Papuan group who had shot at an aircraft of Wings Air, a member of Lion Air group. 

All people boarding the passenger aircraft survived the incident that occurred at Nop Goliath Airport in Dekai Sub-district, Yahukimo District, Papua Pegunungan (Papua Highland) Province.
