London, VIVA – The Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Anindya Bakrie, stated that trade, sustainable investment, and green technology are the key areas of focus in the New Indonesia-UK Strategic Partnership, set to launch next year.

Bakrie also emphasized the need to promote foreign direct investment (FDI) that can create job opportunities.

“Especially in sectors that generate economic opportunities. We also need to prepare our workforce for the green energy and digitalization landscapes,” Bakrie said at The OWO, 57 Whitehall, London SW1A 2BX, UK, on Friday (Nov 22).

He added that leveraging Indonesia's strategic location and improving global competitiveness are crucial.

Export-oriented investments and clean energy investments, particularly from foreign investors, must be significantly increased.

“With the UK’s expertise complementing Indonesia’s dynamic market, it is expected to support the 8 percent growth target and align with the 2022–2024 Indonesia-UK partnership roadmap,” Bakrie remarked.

He added, “This demonstrates the strengthening ties between the two nations. We are not only building a stronger economy but also collaborating to address global challenges.”
