Retailers Can Sell 3-kg LPG Again as Prabowo Issues Immediate Instruction

Jakarta, VIVA – Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, announced that President Prabowo Subianto has officially instructed retailers to resume selling 3-kg LPG as usual, starting today. Meanwhile, these retailers will also be processed to become sub-distributors.
"I have communicated with the President since last night, and there was a request from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to regulate prices at the retail level so that they remain affordable for the public," Dasco said on Tuesday (Feb 4).
He further explained, "After discussions with the President, he has instructed ESDM to immediately allow existing retailers to sell again as usual. Meanwhile, these retailers will gradually be integrated as sub-distributors."

Dasco emphasized that this new regulation is aimed at stabilizing LPG prices in the market.
"With these new regulations, retailers will no longer be able to sell 3-kg LPG at excessively high prices," he added.
"The regulations will ensure that LPG prices remain stable for the public. Those retailers transitioning into sub-distributors will have their prices regulated, preventing unnecessary price hikes in the market," he explained.
Government Assures No Shortage of 3-kg LPG
Previously, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, assured the public that there is no shortage of 3-kg LPG.
His statement came in response to reports suggesting scarcity of the product following the government’s decision to limit sales of 3-kg LPG to official Pertamina distributors and prohibit sales through informal retailers.
"There is no shortage; I guarantee it. I assure you, there is no supply issue," Minister Lahadalia stated on Monday (Feb 3).Â
He also denied claims that the government had imposed a quota restriction on 3-kg LPG.
"There has been no change in the import volume—it's the same as last month, the same as three or four months ago. The subsidies remain intact and have not been reduced," he clarified.
