Karawang, VIVA – Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) has officially expanded its manufacturing presence by adding a new plant, the Karawang Assembly Plant 2 (KAP 2), located in the Surya Cipta Industrial Estate in East Karawang, West Java.
As the company’s sixth factory, this new facility spans over 26 hectares and is dedicated to producing LCGC (Low-Cost Green Car) models, specifically the Daihatsu Ayla and Toyota Agya, to meet the demands of both the domestic and global automotive markets.
Yasushi Kyoda, President Director of ADM, stated that KAP 2 will serve as a key production base to fulfill global export needs. The company has invested a staggering IDR 2.9 trillion in this facility.

The KAP 2 factory is equipped with three main facilities: Body, Painting, and Assembling, all of which are integrated and utilize cutting-edge technology while incorporating the innovative E-SSC concept (Evolution, Simple, Slim, Compact).
This concept implements a modern production process that enhances efficiency, productivity, and environmental sustainability through the use of renewable energy.
It also optimizes production, reducing carbon emissions by up to 20% while providing a safer and more comfortable working environment for employees.
In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the carbon-neutral initiative, KAP 2 is designed as an open-air factory without walls, promoting better air circulation.
This design contributes to energy efficiency, reducing electricity consumption, and integrates advanced robotic technology to ensure high-quality production standards.
The painting process has also been optimized to eliminate water pollution, while safety measures ensure a secure and pleasant workplace for employees.
Additionally, a 3 Mega Watt solar panel system has been implemented as a renewable energy source for the facility.
Kyoda further explained that the KAP 2 production line has an annual production capacity of up to 140,000 units. With this addition, Daihatsu’s total production capacity in Indonesia reaches 530,000 units per year.
“This production capability is supported by more than 1,700 suppliers, including 700 small and medium enterprises (SMEs), with a localization rate of 80%,” he added.
At the same event, Indonesia’s Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, expressed his appreciation for ADM, emphasizing that their investment reflects strong confidence in Indonesia’s potential as a global automotive industry hub.
“On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, I extend my deepest appreciation to Daihatsu Motor Corporation and ADM. Today, they have reinforced our trust that Daihatsu is a true partner of Indonesia by committing a new investment worth IDR 2.9 trillion,” the Minister stated.
He further added, “This is not just a number—it represents the confidence of investors and industry players in Indonesia’s potential and bright future as an automotive hub.”
Additionally, it has been revealed that other models will also be manufactured at the new Daihatsu plant, including the Rocky, Xenia, and Toyota Avanza.
