Jakarta, VIVA – The Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Bakrie, revealed that Indonesia and Vietnam are aiming for a trade target of US$18 billion or around IDR 293,4 trillion by 2025.
He made this statement after meeting with the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), To Lam, at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Jakarta.
“The target has been set at US$18 billion. I also believe this is achievable, considering the enthusiasm and strong interest,” Bakrie said after his meeting with To Lam in Jakarta on Sunday (March 9).
Bakrie expressed confidence in this goal, citing Indonesia and Vietnam as the key growth drivers of ASEAN.
“This is not just about bilateral growth, but with such significant growth, we can also support the global economy, which is currently experiencing a slight slowdown. For Indonesia, especially in the agriculture and fisheries sectors, this presents a major opportunity,” he explained.

He further emphasized that both countries are committed to strengthening cooperation in trade and investment.
“The goal for both nations is to leverage our strong relationship and existing agreements to enhance trade and investment,” Bakrie stated.
In 2024, trade between Indonesia and Vietnam reached US$16 billion.
Currently, Indonesia's top exports to Vietnam include coal, palm oil, and fishery products, while Vietnam's main exports to Indonesia are electronic goods, Bakrie noted.
“Vietnam has a strong electronic products sector, so we are exploring how we can tap into their expertise and productivity in fisheries and agriculture. At the same time, we want to enhance the value chain in electronics, and perhaps even move into semiconductors,” he concluded.
