Doha, VIVA – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) hosted the Qatar-Indonesia CEO Forum in Doha, Qatar, on Sunday (Apr 13).

The forum focused on strengthening cooperation in key sectors including energy, infrastructure, and technology.

This event served as a strategic platform to deepen economic relations between Indonesia and Qatar, while also strengthening collaboration among business leaders from both countries.

"The Indonesia-Qatar CEO Forum has concluded. It was initially attended by President Prabowo Subianto and the entire executive board of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI), along with other partners," said Anindya Novyan Bakrie, Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, in a statement on Monday (Apr 14).

Bakrie explained that the forum addressed five key sectors of cooperation, such as energy, infrastructure, healthcare, education, and technology.

"We focused on various sectors—five in particular were discussed. First, energy—Qatar is a global leader, especially in gas. Second, infrastructure, including steel and housing. Third, healthcare. Fourth, education. And fifth, technology, including fintech," he said.

He emphasized the importance of concrete follow-ups from the business community on partnerships initiated by the government.

"This forum is an example of how Kadin not only partners with the government during state visits but also ensures that its members—down to provincial, regency, and city-level chambers—benefit from the outcomes," Bakrie added.

One successful example of Qatari investment in Indonesia highlighted at the forum was Indosat Ooredoo, which has grown from telecommunications into artificial intelligence (AI).

"Qatar brings immense potential for mutual advancement. Indosat Ooredoo is a standout example of successful Qatari investment in Indonesia, expanding beyond telecom into AI," he explained.

As a concrete follow-up, the forum agreed to establish five working groups, coordinated by Bernardino M. Vega, Vice Chairman for International Affairs at Kadin Indonesia.

Kadin chairman expressed hope that these working groups would hold regular meetings, ideally once a year in both Jakarta and Qatar.

"One of our key outcomes was forming five working groups. Mr. Vega will coordinate to ensure at least annual meetings—once in Qatar and once in Jakarta," he said.
