Free Rides on TransJakarta and MRT for Women on Kartini Day

Jakarta, VIVA – Several public transportation modes in Jakarta are offering free rides for women on Monday (Apr 21), in celebration of Kartini Day.

The public transport services participating in this initiative are the Light Rail Transit (LRT), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), and TransJakarta buses.

"On April 21, all women using public transportation—whether it's LRT, MRT, or TransJakarta—will ride for free," said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung in a statement.



According to a post by the Jakarta Transportation Agency on Instagram, the free ride program for women is valid from 12:01 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. today.

The terms and conditions for free rides on the LRT, as posted on its official Instagram account, state that passengers must carry an Electronic Money Card (e-Money) with a minimum balance of Rp 1.

Meanwhile, for MRT Jakarta, their official Instagram post stated that the special IDR 1 fare for women on Kartini Day applies to both existing and new customers using Bank-issued Electronic Money Cards from 2019 onwards, with a minimum balance of IDR 14,000.

"Female passengers can use the special Customer gates provided at each MRT Jakarta station on April 21, 2025," according to the MRT Jakarta statement.

As for TransJakarta, free rides for women are available from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. across regular TransJakarta services (BRT, non-BRT, and Mikrotrans).

The service can be accessed via special routes marked as the "Kartini Line."
