Jakarta, VIVA – The 2025 Kartini Day commemoration goes beyond symbolic celebration, marking a tangible step toward empowering women and the younger generation.
On Monday (April 21), the Indonesian Women’s Congress (KOWANI) launched the groundbreaking program titled “1,000 Women & Gen Z Professions” at the Tennis Indoor Stadium, Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, connecting participants from over 30 countries.
Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Arifah Choiri Fauzi, emphasized that this moment serves as a reflection on the long-standing struggle of Indonesian women for access and recognition.
“National progress will never be achieved without the advancement of women,” she stated. Kartini, she added, represents the courage to think freely and act boldly.
The program is not merely a showcase of professions, but a space for education, advocacy, and intergenerational inspiration. From preschool teachers and farmers to CTOs and diplomats,
1,000 professions are organized into 17 strategic zones—including Technology, Health, Maritime, and National Defense. Each zone features interactive booths, digital e-catalogs, talk shows, and real-life storytelling of pioneering women.
Selvi Ananda Rakabuming Raka, wife of the Vice President of Indonesia, highlighted Gen Z as a cornerstone of the nation’s future. “They are not just heirs to the future, but creators of it. This program offers a real platform for learning and cross-sector networking,” she said to a global hybrid audience.
Carrying the theme “From Darkness to Light: Shaping a Brighter Future for Women & Gen Z”, the initiative adopts a Pentahelix and Hexahelix collaboration model involving ministries, academia, businesses, diaspora networks, and media stakeholders.
Closing her remarks, Selvi echoed Kartini’s timeless message: “We can become fully human, without ceasing to be wholly women.”
