Kadin Donates IDR 250 Million for Karawang, Tasikmalaya Survivors

Jakarta, VIVA – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), led by Chairman Anindya Bakrie, has donated IDR 250 million to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to help victims of recent natural disasters in Karawang and Tasikmalaya.
The aid will be distributed in the form of much-needed mattresses for those affected.
Speaking on behalf of Anindya Bakrie, Kadin Indonesia’s Deputy Chairwoman for Social Affairs, Nita Yudi, emphasized that this support is part of Kadin’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian efforts in collaboration with PMI.
This donation initiative was prompted during the inauguration of Kadin Indonesia's new leadership, which was also attended by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming.
The Vice President urged Kadin to extend support to disaster-affected regions across Greater Jakarta and West Java.

“In this case, we’re providing IDR 250 million in assistance, which was specifically discussed with the Vice President to be used for purchasing mattresses,” Yudi said on Thursday (June 5).
“Many victims had nothing to sleep on, and this is a basic need," she added.
She also said that a proper place to rest is essential for recovery and hygiene, especially in disaster-affected areas.
“We hope this support can offer some comfort to the victims. A mattress may seem simple, but it’s a basic need that can prevent disease and promote better sleep,” Yudi stated.
PMI Secretary-General A.M. Fachir confirmed that the donation will go to flood victims in Teluk Jambe, Karawang, who were hit by severe flooding on March 6, 2025.
“Over 60,000 households, affecting more than 130,000 people, were impacted by the flood. This aid will help ease their suffering,” Fachir remarked.
In Tasikmalaya, a landslide caused by soil shifting struck Margamulya Village, Cikondang, Cineam subdistrict, in late February 2025. It damaged 92 homes, 42 of which were deemed severely destroyed.
“A total of 223 households in Karawang and 104 households in Tasikmalaya will receive the mattresses,” Fachir concluded.
