President Prabowo Calls for Global Unity to End Middle East Tensions

Russia, VIVA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed deep concern over the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, calling for an immediate peaceful resolution to end the hostilities in the Middle East.
Speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025 in Russia on Friday (June 20), President Prabowo urged all parties to prioritize diplomacy and de-escalation.
“We deeply regret the emergence and escalation of conflicts across the world, especially in the Middle East. We hope that all parties can reach a peaceful resolution as soon as possible,” president Prabowo said.
He emphasized the importance of global cooperation to achieve lasting peace.
“To us, the world and this planet are becoming smaller. We are committed to working with you to build peaceful collaboration and to coexist in harmony with all nations,” the head of state remarked.

President Prabowo also shared that the Iran-Israel issue was discussed during his meeting with President Vladimir Putin, and he acknowledged Russia’s strategic influence in the region.
“Obviously, Russia holds greater influence in that region, particularly with the Iranian government. I believe the Russian government's role will be very significant. We want all sides to lower the tensions and find a peaceful solution,” President Prabowo stated.
He also reiterated Indonesia’s strong commitment to non-alignment and peaceful solutions in global conflicts.
President prabowo then said that Indonesia’s consistent support for diplomatic resolution and its previous initiative for a ceasefire in Ukraine.
“Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, I believe we proposed an immediate ceasefire two years ago. At that time, Russia’s response was fairly open, even very positive,” he concluded.
