Prabowo and MBS Strengthen Ties with Massive Investment Agreements

Jeddah, VIVA – President Prabowo Subianto and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (MBS) reaffirmed their strong commitment to expanding strategic cooperation across various sectors during a bilateral meeting at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah on Wednesday (July 2).
Both leaders welcomed the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between business entities from Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, with a total investment value reaching approximately USD 27 billion.
The agreements span multiple sectors including clean energy, petrochemical industries, and aviation fuel services.

“The two sides welcomed the signing of several agreements and MoUs during this visit between private sector entities, totaling around USD 27 billion across sectors such as clean energy, petrochemicals, and aviation fuel services—reflecting both nations’ aspirations for a progressive economic partnership,” the joint statement from Prabowo and MBS read on Thursday (July 3).
Healthcare also emerged as a key focus area Both countries expressed a shared desire to strengthen cooperation in the health sector, particularly in support of Hajj and Umrah medical services.
They committed to boosting investment in pharmaceuticals, vaccines, health technology, and human capital development in the healthcare field.
“The two parties expressed their aspiration to enhance cooperation in healthcare, especially in meeting health requirements for Hajj and Umrah, and to support investment in this sector through collaboration in pharmaceuticals, vaccines, health technology, and workforce development,” the statement continued.
The two countries also emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships in other strategic sectors such as the digital economy, judicial systems, labor affairs, culture, tourism, youth and sports, education and scientific research, industry and mining, agriculture, fisheries, food security, and aviation connectivity.
In the fields of defense and security, president Prabowo and MBS agreed to deepen cooperation to serve mutual interests and contribute to regional and global stability.
Key areas of focus include counter-terrorism, combating extremism, cybersecurity, intelligence sharing, and joint training programs.
“They also reiterated their commitment to enhancing joint security cooperation and coordination on matters of mutual concern, including fighting all forms of crime, terrorism, and its financing, as well as strengthening cooperation in cybersecurity, intelligence exchange, expertise, and training,” the joint statement added.
Finally, the two nations stressed the importance of collaborating within multilateral forums such as the IMF, World Bank, OIC, G20, and the Non-Aligned Movement, aiming to address global challenges and promote shared interests.
