Jakarta, VIVA – Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Bakrie, has emphasized the importance of cross-sector synergy in supporting national food security—one of the key priorities under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration.
Speaking after a Kadin-hosted dialogue titled "The Role of the Private Sector in Achieving Food Security", held at Menara Kadin Indonesia in South Jakarta, Anindya stressed that building a resilient and sustainable food system requires collaboration between the private sector, government, and all relevant stakeholders.
“President Prabowo is focused on food, and Kadin is ready to work with the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs and its network to drive economic growth from the grassroots level, even down to cities and regencies,” Anindya said on Friday, July 18, 2025.
“Without food security, it is difficult to have economic resilience—and national resilience as a whole,” he added.
Anindya also explained that private sector involvement in food-related sectors reflects a broader transformation of Kadin’s role—from a focus solely on industrialization to supporting more strategic sectors that directly benefit the people.
“The most important thing is the spirit. This time, Kadin isn’t just talking about heavy industries, but also about sustainable food systems,” he said.
Echoing his remarks, Mulyadi Jayabaya, Kadin Indonesia’s Coordinating Vice Chairman for Food Affairs, highlighted the untapped potential of the agricultural sector to become a significant economic driver. According to him, the value of gotong royong (mutual cooperation) remains a key strength in the agricultural world, helping to accelerate economic growth.
“We are advancing Indonesia’s food sector with the spirit of gotong royong. Farmers want to progress, and if we push forward in agriculture, we can achieve 8% economic growth. Agriculture still thrives on this spirit of cooperation,” Mulyadi stated.
The dialogue event served as a strategic platform for aligning perspectives among business leaders, government officials, and agricultural communities. With food security emerging as a national priority, collaboration across sectors is becoming not just relevant—but essential—to ensuring a resilient and self-sufficient Indonesia.
