Minister Prepares to Handle Tourists Increase during Eid Holiday

VIVA – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno is preparing various ways to handle the increase in tourist numbers during the Eid al-Fitr 1444 H holiday. The minister also coordinates with the local government.

"We will carry out simulations until D-7, we prepare crowd control, flow control from visitors, and others." Minister Sandiaga Uno said at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta on Monday.

The Eid al-Fitr 1444 H holiday is the first long holiday momentum after the COVID-19 pandemic and the revocation of the Restriction on Community Activities (PPKM) status. Therefore, Minister Uno estimates that the number of tourists will increase during the Eid holiday.

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has also coordinated with tourism offices in regencies, cities, provinces, and tourism authorities in each tourism destination, according to the minister. This is done so the local governments and tourism authorities have better preparations, such as improving aspects of security, safety, and cleanliness of tourist attractions.

Minister Uno also increased tourism programs such as the launch of rest stops, homecoming routes, and mosque-based tourist destinations for tourist visits.

"We have just launched for the homecoming route that there are several tourist destinations, last year there were tourist villages that we launched, this year there are several rest areas as well as mosque-based tourism-based locations," he informed.

The government estimates that there will be 123.8 million tourist movements during the Eid al-Fitr 1444 H homecoming period, which is expected to help achieve the archipelago's tourist movement target of 1.4 billion by 2023.
