No Indonesian Victim in Xinjiang China Earthquake

China – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Tuesday that no Indonesian citizens were reported as victims of the earthquake in Xinjiang, China.

"Based on the self-reporting records from the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing on the Care for Indonesian Citizens Portal, there were no Indonesian citizens in the affected area," said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lalu Muhamad Iqbal on Tuesday.

According to Iqbal, the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing has coordinated with Chinese authorities and communicated with the Indonesian community in the affected region. "There was no information about Indonesian citizens being victims," 

A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck the Uighur Autonomous Region in Xinjiang, northwest China, on Tuesday morning, causing several injuries and the collapse of several houses.

The epicenter was located at a depth of 22 kilometers in the mountainous border area of Wushi. The tremors were felt across the region and neighboring countries such as Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.

In the vicinity of the earthquake's epicenter, some residences and livestock sheds collapsed, leading to minor injuries among shepherds, as reported by Xinhua News.

The earthquake was also felt across Xinjiang, including in Urumqi, Hotan, and Kashgar. Local authorities have mobilized rescue teams to the Wushi region, but as of now, there are no reports of casualties from the affected area.
