Two Killed Over Car Hit by Train in Brebes

Brebes – A deadly accident happened at a railway crossing without a barrier in Kluwut Village, Bulakamba District, Brebes Regency, Central Java on Wednesday (Apr 10).
The incident started with a Daihatsu Terios traveling from South to North. It's suspected that the driver of the car was not cautious when crossing the railway. Meanwhile, a train was crossed at a close distance.
The Airlangga Train Route from Pasar Senin to Surabaya, Locomotive traveling from west to east collided with the car throwing it off approximately 10 meters.
As a result, two passengers of the car were killed, a mother and her daughter. The victims, both residents of Kluwut Village, Bulakamba District, were named Sumnyah (62) and her daughter Cameliyah (33).

Meanwhile, the car driver, Wandi (45), survived. The bodies of the deceased were immediately evacuated and placed in the mortuary of Bhakti Asih Brebes Hospital.
Wandi, the surviving minibus driver, stated that he had just left home with his family to visit relatives in celebration of Eid al-Fitr 2024 and to attend a family gathering.
However, as they were crossing the railway crossing from the south, suddenly the train approached from the west and collided with his car, throwing it ten meters. Consequently, the condition of his car was severely damaged.
"I was unaware that there was a train approaching from the west at high speed," Wandi said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Traffic Law Enforcement at Brebes Police Traffic Unit, Police Officer Yuswi Candra, confirmed the incident.
"Indeed, there was an accident at the railway crossing without a barrier. This case is still under investigation," Candra informed.
