Minister Confirms IDR 6 billion Reward for Paris Olympics Gold Medalists

Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo announced that athletes who win medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics will receive reward bonus.

Specifically, gold medalists will receive a bonus of IDR 6 billion, while bronze medalists will receive IDR 1.65 billion.

The award isn't just for the athletes; coaches will also receive rewards from the government. Coaches who lead their athletes to win gold medals will receive IDR 2.75 billion, and those who achieve bronze will get IDR 600 million.

"I met with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the new capital (IKN) and it has been confirmed that the athletes will receive the promised bonus. Not only those who win medals, but other athletes will also receive bonus," the minister stated in Jakarta on August 13.

Rizki Juniansyah, a gold medalist in weightlifting, mentioned that he plans to use his earnings and bonus to improve his training facilities.

"I will use the money to upgrade my training facilities in Banten. Additionally, I will also save some of it," he said.

For reference, Indonesia won two gold medals and one bronze medal. With these three medals, Indonesia ranked 39th out of 206 countries and second in the ASEAN region at the 2024 Olympics.
