Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized Indonesia's readiness to support the reconstruction of Gaza, which has been devastated by Israeli aggression, following the implementation of a ceasefire agreement set to take place soon.

“The Government of the Republic of Indonesia is ready to make efforts to support the repair or reconstruction in Gaza,” the minister said on Friday (Jan 17).

Minister Sugiono stated that Indonesia continues to play an active role in assisting the Palestinian people in recovering their situation and achieving independence through various approaches.

He also expressed Indonesia's willingness to contribute peacekeeping forces if requested by the United Nations (UN).

He highlighted that the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas on January 15, 2025, is a matter to be grateful for, as it opens new hope for peace in Palestine.

Moreover, the Palestinian people have suffered greatly, with countless lives lost due to the Israeli aggression that lasted nearly 500 days since October 7, 2023.

For this reason, Indonesia emphasized the importance of both parties committing to their respective agreements so that nothing hinders the implementation of this ceasefire, he said.

“Hopefully, this marks the beginning of a new future for peace in the Middle East,” he remarked.

The minister also expressed hope that this ceasefire would provide a good starting point for achieving a two-state solution to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in accordance with international agreements.
