Jakarta, VIVA – The Indonesian government, through the Coordinating Ministry for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections, is preparing the repatriation of Indonesian convict Reynhard Sinaga, who is currently serving a prison sentence in the United Kingdom.
The Special Staff for International Relations, Ahmad Usmarwi Kaffah, stated that the Indonesian government is making various efforts to bring Reynhard Sinaga back through the Prisoner Exchange mechanism.
"In the near future, we will repatriate our detainee in the UK, in a major case as referred to by the British government—Reynhard Sinaga. We are making every effort to bring him back as soon as possible and will engage in negotiations," Kaffah said on Tuesday (Feb 4).
The Coordinating Ministry for Law, Human Rights, and Corrections has also met with Reynhard Sinaga’s family to discuss the repatriation process.

The response from the convict’s family has been highly emotional, as they have expressed difficulty in communicating with Reynhard, who is confined in a British prison.
"We have asked Reynhard’s family for confirmation on whether they agree, and they broke down in tears, wanting their son to return. They have received news that he is struggling to communicate there (in the UK), where the conditions are very restrictive," he stated.
