Government Announces First Day of Ramadan on March 1

Jakarta, VIVA – The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Religious Affairs, has determined that the beginning of fasting or 1 Ramadan 1446 H/2025 AD, falls on today, Saturday, March 1.
This decision was made after the Ministry of Religious Affairs, led by Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, held an Isbat Session.
The closed session was held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Jakarta, on Friday (Feb 28).

"Thus, tonight it was decided in the session that 1 Ramadan is set for tomorrow, God willing, on March 1, 2025, coinciding with 1 Ramadan 1446 H," said Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Jakarta on Friday.
To determine the hilal (crescent moon), the Ministry of Religious Affairs conducted observations by officers at various locations in several regions of Indonesia.
"The observation of the Ramadan hilal will be carried out at 125 points throughout Indonesia on February 28," said the Director-General of Islamic Community Guidance of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Abu Rokhmad, earlier.
