Jakarta, VIVA – The Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Bakrie, has welcomed the investment of Vietnamese taxi company Xanh SM, which has now officially begun operation in Indonesia.
According to him, this move will intensify competition in the local transportation sector, ultimately leading to more competitive pricing and improved services for consumers.
"I think this is a great example of how more foreign companies are entering Indonesia to provide services to the public," Bakrie said on Monday (March 10).

"This will undoubtedly bring better services, make transportation more accessible, and offer competitive pricing," he added.
On the other hand, the entry of new players in the transportation service sector, such as Xanh SM, will also have a positive impact on the national automotive industry.
"This will also boost the automotive industry, which in turn will create ripple effects across various sectors. There will definitely be a growing number of suppliers," Bakrie remarked.
The same goes for Indonesian transportation service companies expanding abroad, such as GoTo’s operations in Vietnam.
Bakrie believes that this development will further drive growth in the automotive industry, fostering stronger collaboration between Indonesia and Vietnam.
"For instance, Indonesia is the largest market for bus rapid transit. Imagine if we could contribute there (in Vietnam). There are so many areas where we could work together," he conveyed.
Bakrie added, "Essentially, these two countries are the engines of ASEAN, and together, their populations make up half of ASEAN. So, I see this as a very exciting opportunity."
