Blaze at Tugu Yogyakarta Station: Three Train Carriages Caught Fire

Yogyakarta, VIVA – Three train carriages at Tugu Station Yogyakarta caught fire on Wednesday morning, March 12, 2025, at around 6:44 AM. The carriages were parked in the stabling area on the east side of the station when the incident occurred.
According to Feni Novida Saragih, Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, the fire broke out at 6:44 AM in three standby train carriages.
Upon receiving the report, firefighters arrived at the scene just one minute later, at 6:45 AM, and immediately began extinguishing the flames.
A total of five fire trucks were deployed to put out the blaze. "A total of five fire trucks responded to the incident. By 7:30 AM, the fire was successfully extinguished," Saragih stated.

She confirmed that there were no casualties in the fire. However, the cause of the incident and the extent of the damage are still under investigation.
"There were no victims in this incident. The cause and the estimated losses are still being examined," she explained.
Saragih further clarified that the three affected train carriages were in a stabling position, meaning they were parked and not in service at the time.
"(The carriages) were not yet assigned to any train set. They were parked, waiting to be prepared for departure," she added.
