Morowali, VIVA – In an ongoing effort to support education and human development in Central Sulawesi, Nickel Industries Limited (NIC), in collaboration with Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), has opened applications for the second batch of its Full Undergraduate Scholarship Program for 2025.
The program targets students from areas surrounding NIC’s subsidiary, Hengjaya Mineralindo, in Morowali. A total of ten scholarships will be awarded to outstanding graduates from senior high schools (SMA/SMK) in the region.
Recipients will be granted a fully funded four-year undergraduate education at UNHAS, covering a range of 15 study programs.
These include disciplines such as Mining Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Metallurgical Engineering—fields relevant to both regional development priorities and NIC’s operational context. The selection process will be fully managed by UNHAS in accordance with its standard admissions criteria.
Applications are set to open on 18 May 2025, with a briefing scheduled for 20 May. This will be followed by document screening on 2 June, an entrance examination on 3 July, and the final announcement on 8 July 2025.
Muchtazar, Head of Sustainability at NIC, described the initiative as part of a broader effort to foster long-term development through education.
"We genuinely care about the progress of our local communities. This initiative aims to empower youth around our operations by opening access to quality higher education," he said, quoted from official statement.
Professor Muhammad Ruslin, Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs at UNHAS, also expressed support for the initiative.
"This collaboration has proven effective since 2023. Providing full scholarships to local students offers real impact and can serve as an example for other companies in the region," he noted.
