President Macron to Pay State Visit to Indonesia at the End of May

Jakarta, VIVA – President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to visit Indonesia for a three-day state visit from May 27 to 29, 2025.

The visit is expected to serve as a significant moment to strengthen strategic cooperation between Indonesia and France.

Preparations for the visit were discussed in a meeting between the French Ambassador to Indonesia, Fabien Penone, and Indonesian Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya, on Tuesday (May 13).

The meeting, held at the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat Building, aimed to coordinate both technical and substantive aspects of President Macron’s upcoming visit.

“This meeting is expected to become an important momentum to reinforce bilateral relations between Indonesia and France across various sectors,” read a statement posted on the Cabinet Secretariat.



As one of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council with veto power, and the world’s seventh-largest economy, France is a strategic partner for Indonesia in several global and regional issues.

President Macron’s visit to Indonesia also reflects the commitment of both nations to enhance concrete cooperation in tackling global challenges.

President Prabowo and President Macron last met during a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Brazil in November 2024.

The Indonesian government warmly welcomes President Macron’s planned visit and hopes it will result in concrete outcomes that further deepen the diplomatic ties the two countries have maintained for over 70 years.
