Then, he promised that the U.S. government will take steps to address the worsening humanitarian situation.

“We are watching Gaza. And we will handle the situation. Many people are starving,” Trump said as quoted from the Guardian site.

This statement comes amid growing international criticism of Israel’s attacks on Gaza, which have killed more than 100 people in the past 72 hours.

The majority of the casualties are women and children. Since the latest offensive began, it is estimated that over 53,000 people have become victims.

Trump previously visited Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, hoping to encourage a humanitarian pause or increased aid delivery to Gaza. However, violence in the region continues to escalate.

He also proposed a controversial plan to turn Gaza into a "freedom zone" focused on post-conflict reconstruction. Yet, this proposal has faced widespread criticism for being unrealistic and ignoring the root causes of the conflict.

Meanwhile, U.S.-led aid efforts face major challenges. Several distribution schemes through military-controlled points by Israel have been criticized as unsafe and insufficient in reaching the people most in need.

Humanitarian organizations warn that malnutrition rates, especially among children, are rising sharply.

Trump’s statement marks a shift in Washington’s tone, which previously leaned more toward supporting Israel’s military actions. The focus on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza reflects increasing international pressure on the U.S. to actively help de-escalate the conflict and save civilian lives.
