The signing of this MoU stands as one of the key milestones during Premier Li Qiang’s official visit to Indonesia, which also marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The collaboration between Bakamla and the China Coast Guard is expected to not only strengthen technical capabilities on both sides but also improve coordination in maintaining order and maritime security in a region often under geopolitical scrutiny.
President Prabowo stated that Indonesia is ready to be an active partner in fostering a peaceful and secure region, and also supports the conclusion of negotiations on the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea.
In this context, China is regarded as a “key” partner. The presence and collaboration of the two nations’ coast guards is expected to serve as a symbol of productive maritime diplomacy amid increasingly complex security dynamics in Southeast Asian waters.
