Jakarta, VIVA – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is promoting sustainable infrastructure investment under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) as part of efforts to create a more inclusive and sustainable future.
This was conveyed by Rico Rustombi, Kadin’s Vice Chairman for Infrastructure, during the Inaugural Global Business Summit on Belt and Road Infrastructure Investment for Better Business, Better World, and Sustainable Development Goals, held at the Ministry of Investment/BKPM office in Central Jakarta on Sunday (May 25).

According to him, the summit is more than just a ceremonial event—it serves as a hub for exchanging ideas and laying the groundwork for transformative change.
He highlighted global challenges such as climate change, resource allocation, and fast-changing markets, which require unprecedented cooperation.
“This summit reflects unity and long-term vision. We are here to build trust, exchange ideas, and take bold action for a better business environment and a better world,” Rustombi remarked.
He then added that Indonesia, through its active role in the BRI, is in a strategic position not only to benefit from global trade and investment but also to share its unique strengths with the world.
“We’re a nation that blends tradition with innovation. Our ability to align progressive economic policies with cultural and environmental preservation will be the key to our success,” he added.
Rustombi also noted Indonesia’s strategic opportunity within BRI, “From Kadin’s perspective, China’s investment in Indonesia is one way to accelerate our investment agenda in support of President Prabowo’s Asta Cita program, which targets 8% economic growth,”
He explained that Kadin has initiated discussions covering sectors such as renewable energy, human capital development, technology (including AI), and medical equipment.
“The One Belt One Road initiative greatly supports the Ministry of Investment in accelerating investment in Indonesia,” Rustombi stressed.
Kadin also hopes to strengthen collaboration between Indonesian businesses and Chinese partners.
“Some Kadin businesses have already formed investment partnerships based on Environmental Sustainability Goals (ESG) aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” he concluded.
