Bank Indonesia Extends Credit Card Payment Relief through 2025

Jakarta, VIVA – Bank Indonesia (BI) has announced an extension of credit card payment relief measures until December 31, 2025. The policy was originally set to end on June 30, 2025.

The announcement was made by BI Governor Perry Warjiyo during a press conference on the results of the central bank’s June 2025 Board of Governors Meeting.

“The extension of the National Clearing System (SKNBI) fee policy and the Credit Card (CC) policy will continue until December 31, 2025,” Warjiyo said on Thursday (June 19).

The relief policy includes lowering the minimum credit card payment from 10% to 5% of the total bill. Additionally, the late payment fee is capped at a maximum of 1% of the bill and may not exceed IDR 100,000.

He also stated that the SKNBI transaction fee from Bank Indonesia to banks remains at Rp 1, while the fee charged by banks to customers is capped at IDR 2,900.

“These fee policies are extended through the end of 2025 to help support private consumption, especially among households,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Warjiyo reported that credit growth in May 2025 stood at 8.43% year-on-year, slightly lower than April’s 8.88% growth.

From the supply side, banks still showed a strong preference for investing in securities, even as lending standards began to tighten.

“Banking liquidity remains adequate, although third-party funds (DPK) growth slowed from 5.51% yoy in January 2025 to 4.29% yoy in May 2025,” he continued.
