US Declares May as Asian and Pacific Island Descendant Month

VIVA – US declares May as Asian and Pacific Island descendant month. In commemoration of this descent month, various activities were held to recognize the role, contribution and influence of Americans of Asian and Pacific Island descent.
Such as in New York City, on Tuesday afternoon held an introduction to culinary origins from several Asian countries. The event was held in the backyard of the mayor's official house.
After a two-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was held again this year. Indonesia has also re-introduced several typical foods from the country.
The interesting thing, this year all the food served is made from vegetarian food. This is in line with the program run by Mayor Erick Adam, who just took office earlier this year.
On Sunday, May 22, 2022, there will also be a parade which is a march that goes hand in hand which is attended by representatives from various American communities of Asian and Pacific Island descent.
The participants will wear traditional clothes and a number of floats. The event will be attended by city government officials and staff as well as politicians and community leaders.
Not only that, the event will be liven up with food bazaars from these countries.
From the arrival of the first Asian-Americans and Pacific Islander immigrants of 150 years ago to those who arrive today, as well as the natives of the Hawaiian Islands and to the Pacific Island region, all have the same purpose of fulfilling the American dream and living a life bound by those ideals. American ideals of life, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness.
Each month in the United States alternately launch programs to pay attention to certain groups. This aims to provide education to its citizens and a form of tolerance for the diversity of Uncle Sam's citizens.
