The National Water Polo Team to Exercise in Europe for 2023 SEA Games

VIVA – Chairman of the Indonesian Swimming Association (PB PRSI) Anindya Novyan Bakrie released the national water polo team on Tuesday, which will exercise in Europe before compete at the 2023 SEA Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from May 5 to 17.

The male team's training camp took place in coach Nikola Milosavljevic's home country of Serbia. Meanwhile, a female team train in Hungary – the home country of coach Aaron Regos.

"The water polo team will stay in the two European countries for approximately one month. After that, return to Indonesia and continue to Cambodia. I hope this exercise will be utilized as much as possible by the water polo team. Because Indonesia has the status of defending champion after breaking down Singapore's dominance at the SEA Games." Bakrie stated.

"I released and encouraged our athletes to exercise in Serbia. Their task will be tougher at the 2023 SEA Games because they are trying to maintain their position." He added.

Furthermore, Anindya Bakrie said the 2023 SEA Games is also good momentum for Indonesia to prove itself as an outstanding country, after failed to host the U-20 World Cup.

"So, the SEA Games is a gamble indeed. Even though it is not the world level, this can be a big momentum so outside countries see Indonesia as an outstanding country," he said.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Water polo team captain Reza Auditya Putra expressed his gratitude to PRSI for always providing full support to athletes under the leadership of Anindya Bakrie, "We are very motivated to stay in Serbia and return to compete at the SEA Games to defend the gold medal."
