Jakarta – The Bali Mandara Toll Road has been designated as the pilot project for implementing a tapless, cashless toll system known as Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF).

"This trial of the non-stop toll payment system has been set for the Bali Mandara Toll Road," explained Triono Junoasmono, Director of Freeway at the Directorate General of Highways, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), in Bali last Friday.

According to him, the feasibility study document from the Ministry of PUPR indicated that Indonesia suffers an annual loss of IDR 4.4 trillion due to vehicle queues at toll gates.

Therefore, the implementation of the MLFF system is seen as a solution to this problem.

Junoasmono explained that once the technology system, also known as contactless or stop-free cashless tolls, is implemented, toll road users must register their vehicles through an application.

According to Junoasmono, the implementation of MLFF is part of the modernization of toll roads aimed at initiating the transformation of toll road maintenance and operation.

"In addition, the implementation of MLFF will also optimize toll payments by enhancing the user experience for toll road users," he remarked.

"With such service improvements, areas of congestion and queues at toll roads can be resolved. This will be very convenient and will significantly impact Bali's pride with this extraordinary service. We appreciate and thank you," Jaya said.

He added that with the efficiency and the absence of obstacles at toll gates, it will indirectly boost economic growth in the future, as the movement of people and goods will be faster and unimpeded.

"This is indeed a problem on the ground, and thank you to the Director General for thinking it through so well. Hopefully, this can be sustained and sustainable," he concluded.
