Prabowo Names Luhut as Chairman of National Economic Council

Jakarta, VIVA – The new Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan as Chairman of the National Economic Council at the State Palace, Central Jakarta, on Monday (Oct 21).

Luhut, who previously served as Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment in the era of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), is now given new responsibilities to oversee and develop national economic policies.

This inauguration was carried out based on Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 139/P of 2024 concerning the Appointment of the Chairperson of the National Economic Council.

On this occasion, Luhut was given financial rights and other facilities in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Luhut's inauguration took place simultaneously with the inauguration of 48 ministers and heads of institutions in the Red and White Cabinet.

"That I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and will carry out all laws and regulations as honestly as possible for the sake of my devotion to the nation and state," said Prabowo followed by the ministers who were inaugurated.
