Jakarta, VIVA – Microsoft is gearing up to launch its Indonesia Cloud Region in the second quarter of 2025, a move expected to accelerate the country’s digital transformation and drive growth in Indonesia’s digital economy

.The announcement was made by Dharma Simorangkir, President Director of Microsoft Indonesia, during a press conference in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta

."Indonesia Central, or the Indonesia Cloud Region, will officially launch in Q2 2025," Simorangkir stated on Wednesday (March 12).

He emphasized that the Indonesia Central launch will play a significant role in accelerating cloud adoption across various industries.

Over the next four years (2025-2028), this initiative is projected to generate $2.5 billion (Rp39 trillion) in economic value.

"This figure represents 16.5% of the total new economic value of $15.2 billion that Microsoft, its partners, and Microsoft Cloud customers will generate," he added.

Beyond economic value, the Indonesia Cloud Region is also expected to create major job opportunities across key domestic industries.

Simorangkir estimates that Microsoft and its partners will generate 106,295 new jobs in Indonesia within the same period.

This cloud expansion marks a strategic step in supporting the growth of Indonesia’s digital industry and strengthening its technology-driven business ecosystem.

However, the impact of AI-driven technology will not solely rely on infrastructure but also on Indonesia’s digital talent readiness.

Recognizing this, Microsoft is also focusing on digital skills development and empowering changemakers across various sectors.

"With collaboration between the government, industries, and educational institutions, Indonesia will be better prepared to navigate the rapidly evolving digital era," Simorangkir said.

In the past two years, Microsoft and its partners have trained 704,342 Indonesians with digital skills essential for AI-driven economic growth.

Under the elevAIte Indonesia program, a collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) aimed at training 1 million Indonesians in AI skills by 2025, Microsoft has already welcomed 18 partners to accelerate inclusive AI skilling across sectors.

These partners include Biji-Biji Initiative, Dicoding, and NUCare Global by LAZISNU, all committed to empowering Indonesia’s workforce in the age of AI.
