Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has promised to establish a National Workers’ Welfare Council (DKBN) soon.
He made this statement in front of thousands of workers during the commemoration of International Workers’ Day or May Day 2025 in Jakarta on Thursday (May 1).
According to the head of state, the council will include prominent national labor figures and will primarily be tasked with providing direct recommendations to the President on improving regulations that have hindered workers' welfare.
“I will immediately form the National Workers’ Welfare Council, which will consist of all leading labor figures from across Indonesia,” the president stated.
He said one of the regulations that the DKBN would review is the elimination of outsourcing.

“But we also have to be realistic. We must also consider the interests of investors—because if they don’t invest, there are no factories, and you don’t have jobs,” he stressed.
Furthermore, President Prabowo said he plans to gather around 150 representatives of labor leaders and business leaders at the Bogor Palace.
This initiative aims to develop solutions for the current problems hindering the national business climate.
“We will sit together, brothers and sisters. No one should become wealthy on their own without ensuring that workers can also live decently," he remarked.
The president added, "The state is not standing by idly—we are fighting to provide healthcare services, electricity subsidies, and direct cash assistance. In total, we’ve allocated IDR 500 trillion, and we will continue to maintain this to ensure our people do not suffer."
