Eid al-Adha: Presidential Cows Sacrifice for 2,000 Orphans

Jakarta, VIVA – The Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta has received sacrificial animals for Eid al-Adha from President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The two cows will be slaughtered at the Istiqlal Mosque's Slaughterhouse (RPH) on Saturday (June 7).

Istiqlal Mosque's Media Director, Asdar, stated that the slaughtering process would begin at 6:30 a.m. local time.



"President Prabowo’s cow slaughtered today," Asdar said on Saturday (June 7).

However, unlike in previous years, the beef from the President and Vice President’s sacrificial cows will not be distributed to the general public.

Instead, the meat will be cooked and served during a communal meal with 2,000 orphans, scheduled for Sunday (June 8).

“This year, the sacrificial cows from RI 1 and RI 2 will not be distributed to the public, but will be served at a communal meal with 2,000 orphans,” Asdar explained.

The event is set to take place at the Al Fattah Pavilion of Istiqlal Mosque on Sunday morning, June 8, 2025.

“On Sunday, the event will begin at 9 a.m. at the Al Fattah Pavilion of Istiqlal. Other sacrificial cows will be distributed to the public through organizations that submitted official requests to the mosque,” he added.

In addition to the two cows from the country’s top leaders, Istiqlal Mosque also received sacrificial animals from various other donors.

Their meat will be distributed to the public through institutions that submitted formal proposals to the mosque.
